FAQ
How it works
Can you tell me how Rorke Bader works?
Absolutely. At Rorke Bader we design collections that are produced on a made-to-order basis. This lets us offer a broader range of styles, size, colors, materials, and other options. Most garments are made in 4-6 weeks (or less). If you have any questions about how this works or what’s possible, please reach out using our contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com.
Is there any way to experience Rorke Bader in person?
Absolutely. We show the collection by appointment in New York City’s Noho neighborhood. Please use the contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com to schedule an appointment.
I’m not in NYC, is there any other way to experience Rorke Bader?
Of course. We’re happy to send you a try-on muslin of any style in your selected size along with a swatch set, hardware sample(s), and a return shipping label for a $1000 deposit. Upon return of the muslin, this deposit can be applied to the purchase of any garment. To inquire about receiving a muslin, please use our contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com. If you would like to discuss a purchase before deciding on this option or have any questions please reach out via our contact page our email nyc@rorkebader.com to ask any questions or schedule a video consultation.
Size and Fit
Where can I find measurements and sizing information?
We’re working on making all measurements available online, but in the meantime please use our contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com to inquire about any garment’s measurements. We're happy to send you measurement charts and any other sizing information you would like. If you have any other questions about size or fit, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Can you tell me more about made-to-measure and bespoke options?
Absolutely. We have two different levels of custom fit available:
- Made-to-measure allows you to alter the lengths and circumferences of any garment. If the sleeves are too long or short, or if you need a bit more or less room in the waist, this is a great option for you. For made-to-measure we charge an additional 10%. If you have any questions about what’s possible with made-to-measure please reach out via the contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com.
- Bespoke is a full reconsideration of how the garment fits you as an individual. If you are extremely athletic, or heavier than average, have unusual posture, asymmetrical shoulders, or any other special fit need, this is a great option for you. We have over 10 years of experience crafting perfectly fitting bespoke garments. For bespoke we charge an additional 30%. The bespoke process involves an interim muslin fitting to ensure the garment’s fit, which will add an additional 2-3 weeks to the final delivery time, based on your availability. If you have any questions about what’s possible with made-to-measure please reach out via the contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com.
- If you have any other custom inquiries, please feel free to reach out using our contact page or email nyc@rorkebader.com.
Sustainability
Can you speak a little bit about Rorke Bader and sustainability?
Absolutely. At Rorke Bader we believe strongly in creating sustainable products and business practices. Here are some of the ways that we prioritize that:
- Creating garments on a made-to-order basis: By creating products only as they are purchased we reduce excess inventory and waste. Millions of tons of clothing end up in landfills every year, much of which is unsold clothing. By reducing inventory we avoid adding to this.
- Creating durable clothing that gets better with wear: We make our clothing with timelines of decades in mind. With the rise of fast fashion people are purchasing more clothing and wearing each item less. We strive to create pieces that you can wear on a daily basis for many years to come.
- Prioritizing sustainable and natural materials: About 60% of all clothing sold worldwide is made from plastic, and 10% of all microplastics dispersed in the oceans each year come from textiles. By prioritizing natural materials such as leather, cotton, and wool, we avoid adding to this. Please see below for more information about the materials that we use.
- Paying our workers and contractors well: Most of our products are made in New York City’s historic garment district, and any items made internationally are made in facilities that we have personally visited and worked in ourselves. We work with the best artisans in the world, and make sure that they are paid accordingly and treated well.
Does Rorke Bader use sustainable materials?
We sure do. Here is some more information on some of the materials that
we use:
- Leather: many people don’t realize that leather is actually a byproduct of the meat industry. As long as some people are still eating meat, utilizing leather is actually reducing waste. Additionally,
it is an extremely durable material that can last many years. We prioritize minimally treated leathers from high quality tanneries in order to reduce environmental impact.
- Ventile: One of the staples of our collection is Ventile. Ventile is a totally natural, 100% cotton waterproof fabric, and the company has a strong background of prioritizing sustainable practices.
Shipping and returns
Can you tell me how returns work?
Unfortunately, as a small business producing on a made-to-order basis, we don’t offer returns. That being said, we want to make sure that you are totally satisfied with your purchase. If you run into any issues or problems with any of our items we will work to ensure that you are happy with your purchase.
What about shipping?
We offer free shipping within the US. We ship internationally, and all fees and taxes should be calculated at checkout to avoid surprises or delays. We are new to shipping internationally, so please bear with us in the event of any delays or unforeseen costs. If you have any questions or concerns about international orders please reach out via our contact page or by emailing nyc@rorkebader.com.
